Evaluation - Criterion E

Investigation

It was the first stage of the design cycle, where I did a little bit of research with the help of my teachers during Art and Technology. Looking at the portraits from previous year and observing them was one of the interesting ways to investigate, however I also investigated real portrait artists and their techniques. It was an easy going process, however I feel could have done a much better job. Its because I did not really work on the investigation outside of classes. There were assignments given on art class to investigate certain artists and mixed media artworks, through these stages I figured out a lot of things. I could have spent some more time, outside of those assignments actually researching on my own and not getting graded on them. If could have brought more information and the product may have been a better one. Other than that, as a source I could have used my diary as a source as well to know myself better and to catch some ideas that I want to include in my product. So overall, it was a very valid and productive investigation but improvements are never useless.

Design

To get a higher grade on my Criterion B and to come up with a satisfied product, I was supposed to create at least 4 designs using Photoshop or websites on internet. Well, for me photoshop was not a thing that was very familiar and easy to use, so I went online to picnik.com and it worked out pretty well. It was the first time ever in my life to adjust my photo online I thought it was not very safe. However, picnik.com didn't ask for any IDs or passports which encouraged me to use it again, and it was pretty convinient. So I created 6 total designs and 4 of them had the same original photo that was taken outside of school. One of them was a photo which showed my tear but smiling in order to show that I am happy on the inside but sometimes there are parts in my life where not everything goes smooth. But I felt like that photo showed too much and I felt like I want to get petted by other people, which I hate the most. Well, I chose a design that looked simple but sharp with a lot of contrast. It fit my design specifications well. However, after choosing the photo and tracing them I wanted to choose a different design. So to improve this stage of this project can be to make the right decision after all.

Presentation

For the presentation, we were supposed to talk about the process and difficulties encountered as well as solutions made. Meanwhile, I was also supposed to explain all the materials I used as well as the meaning of it. Then I also had to talk about how I identify a risk taker and compare myself against it. Well, I think prepared for the presentation pretty well, and was very happy for it. Except the part where I had to talk about the texting the product. I printed out all the copies of the designs I altered and showed it to the audience and made notecards in order to remind myself about what I should talk about. I might have bored the audience with a long speech and the lack of my vocabulary, it might have been difficult to understand me. Overall, I would like to change my presentation at some point such as talking about the place where I put it and why. Its because there was a reason behind for me to put my portrait next to humanities room. The point was that the door was in the way, I liked it. Even though, it was actually hiding my portrait; I think this is who I am. I do not show up in front of everyone; I am more of a closed person. Other than that, to improve my presentation I would like to use a wide range of high vocabulary words and a fun topic to easy going process, for not to bore the audience.

Note: I also want to finish the test before the presentation, so that I would be proud of the presentation to say whether it was a successful one or not

Testing the product.

My test was meant to be asking just random people about my portrait and aske what it represents.
